I loved recently renovated room in this hotel.
It was a beautiful old place, had easygoing and competent staff despite best efforts of staff that were there.

The location was unbeatable, for example, The Black Watch Museum was at a medium distance from the hotel. Our rooms where recently refurbished and airy with lovely firm beds as well as tea as expected.

The whole room was recently refurbished and largewith mineral water, extra blankets in the wardrobe. They provided a wide array of outstanding choices for breakfast that was included. Exceptional service, even though a few employees were quite busy:)))
We didn't like the bed, it was very uncomfortable.

Location
The hotel is a typical old railway hotel. Looks good from the outside but requires a lot of money spent on it inside. It has had new carpets and wallpaper but our room had part of the skirting board missing, the bed was worn and the mattress was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on- needed replacing. Paintwork and furniture throughout the hotel had seen better days..

The taking of payment and granting of final bill on arrival was not a good sign. My breakfast was appalling quality ie hot smoked salmon and white tasteless scrambled egg. My wife never received her cooked breakfast. A tired unwelcoming hotel.

The staff's warm welcome and the delightful chocolates on the pillows made our stay special. the room's tired appearance, with peeling paint and mouldy bathroom spots, detracted from the experience.

Poor Service regarding internet connectivity, on complaining that their system was not providing IP address and internet access the staff just stated well my PC is working ok and no resolution provided for teh full three days stay, on movig to an alternative hotel internet access was immediately available. If you state that you have a service then you should provide it to your customers. I would not recommend this hotel for business users. Also no telephone facilities provided. No staff manning the bar or resturant and customers have to wait until reception staff notice.
